$3,875,000 After Customer Trips and Falls

Plaintiff, a licensed nurse, was shopping at a Home Depot Store in Brooklyn when she was caused to fall over a cardboard box. The plaintiff alleged that a Home Depot employee placed the box in the aisle. Home Depot denied any involvement. As a result of the accident, the plaintiff suffered injuries to her neck requiring surgery, a torn rotator cuff, and torn meniscus in her right knee. HKD partner Jordan Hecht tried the case, and the jury returned a verdict finding Home Depot 100% at fault and awarded $3,875,000.00 in damages.
