Plaintiff, a 56-year-old school bus matron, was seated on the bus when it was struck by a New York City Department of Sanitation street sweeper. The operator of the street sweeper fled the scene. Plaintiff sustained herniated discs at C5-6 and C6-7 that required a cervical decompression and fusion. Plaintiff was unable to return to her job as a bus matron. The defendant, City of New York, denied any involvement in the accident and accused plaintiff of fabricating the entire accident. The case was tried by Hecht Kleeger & Damashek, P.C., partner, Jordan Hecht. The jury returned a verdict finding the City of New York 100% liable for the accident. The case settled for $1,500,000.00 while post-trial motions were pending.
