$1,900,000 – Apartment Accident – Fall of Sink – Neck and Knee Injuries

Category: Premises Liability,

Plaintiff, a 47 y/o homemaker, was leaning on the bathroom sink in her apartment when the sink pulled off the wall causing plaintiff to fall. As a result of the fall, plaintiff sustained injuries to her neck that ultimately required an anterior cervical fusion as well as a torn meniscus in her right knee requiring arthroscopic surgery. Plaintiff sued the building owner as well as the construction company that had installed the sink several days before. Defendants argued that plaintiff was standing on the sink at the time of the accident and she was solely to blame. Defendants refused to make a reasonable offer and HKD took the case to trial. After a three week trial the jury returned a verdict finding the defendants 100% at fault and plaintiff received $1,900,000.00.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
